REAL BRIDE LYNN SAYS "I DO" IN VERA WANG BRIDE
Posted by Annie Lu onThe Special Couple: Lyn + Edward
THE FIRST SIGHT & THE PROPOSAL
We met on an autumn night at a bar in the backstreets of Tokyo in 2017. Edward is good friends with my brother, and we were introduced as I spent a year studying and working in Tokyo. Edward wanted some recommendations for cool spots to hang out at in Tokyo. We drank and chatted until 4 am that night; the rest was history!
We didn't have a big romantic proposal as we both believed we decided on our forever the day we signed our lease and moved in together. Edward did, however, ask for my hand in marriage by asking my parents while on a family trip in India right before covid. So it took us a few years to celebrate, but it was worth the wait.
THE VENUE & INSPIRATION
We wanted an afternoon affair in an intimate location for our wedding while balancing my parents' wishes for a larger wedding. We had our wedding at The Author's Lounge in the Mandarin Oriental with a Thai morning ceremony followed by a lunch reception. Our theme was simple and elegant, and we only used two types of flowers for the decorations. Many of our friends commented that it feels like "walking into her Pinterest"!
THE BRIDAL LOOK & SAYING "YES" TO THE DRESS
Halter necks were the thing I wanted for my bridal look! I know this neckline works well for me. And I wanted something minimal with a few details that stand out. I saw the Liliane dress online and fell for it at first sight! It was the first dress I put on at my Eternal Bridal appointment. I tried on 3-4 more gowns, but I decided on the first one as soon as I tried it.
My experience at Eternal Bridal was wonderful. I was pushed for time as I was relocating with work to Singapore but had my wedding in Bangkok in 8 months. We couldn't order a new wedding dress, but I loved the gown so much that I asked the EB team to sell the sample gown to me. They kindly agreed, and I managed to get it altered and brought my wedding dress overseas with me!
THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR DAY
We wore Thai costumes and did a “Rod Nam Sang” ceremony where all our guests from overseas were also able to get involved and bless us with holy water. Edward played the piano for me, and both our cousins performed lovely pieces on the piano for us.
LYNN'S ADVICE
Just stay true to yourself and what makes you feel confident in terms of dress style! You don’t want to be uncomfortable in your own skin on the big day.
