The Special Couple: Krystal + Jackson

THE FIRST SIGHT & THE PROPOSAL

Jackson and I met when we were just 19 years old! My best friend and Jackson's best friend were dating then, and we met at their birthday party. We shared a taxi into the city that night; the rest is history.

We were in Cartagena, Colombia, on our South American trip. One night, after a beautiful dinner, we strolled along the waterfront back to our hotel, where Jackson insisted on finding a "perfect spot" (we moved twice due to unpleasant smells, which is hilarious thinking back). Once he was happy with the surroundings, he casually asked me to marry him!

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

From the beginning, we wanted our wedding to be minimal and fuss-free. We wanted our love for one another to be the star of the party, so we opted for a paired-back aesthetic.

SAYING 'YES' TO THE DRESS

I knew I wanted to stay true to myself. That meant really clean and modern details. I always like to add an element of authenticity too. When I told everyone I was wearing black heels, there was a lot of doubt, but I can now confirm everyone loved the finished look I eventually walked down the aisle in!

I tried on roughly 25 dresses. The dress shopping experience I had was magical. I tried on all the dresses I thought I was looking for; however, my Enzoani dress was the one that chose me. The wedding gown screamed my name while it hung so elegantly and was completely understated compared to the other dresses, yet so elegant. It was perfect. The chills are all I remember from my fitting. My entourage had goosebumps when that curtain drew back and revealed the "one". I remember calling the ladies at Eternal Bridal to see if they could squeeze me in between appointments as I was only in Sydney for the weekend, and they made it happen for me. I'm forever grateful.

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY

Can I say the food?... because the food was amazing! Of course, I also have walking down the aisle and seeing Jackson as my on-par highlight. That moment was really special to the both of us.

KRYSTAL'S ADVICE

My biggest advice would be to slow down. The small details won't matter, and have fun!
