The Special Couple: Kirsty + Reese

THE FIRST SIGHT

We met at my birthday party. His uncle and I were friends, and he said he was bringing his nephew along. Given his uncle was my age, I assumed his nephew was young and asked, "can he swim". Reese was, however, 21. We were pretty much inseparable after that night.

THE PROPOSAL 

Reese proposed to me inside the car on Christmas day in front of the same uncle's house. My only request was that our son is there. Reese handed me a present, I opened it, and on a pin board, it said, 'will you marry me?' I said yes, and he handed me the ring box. During this time, Reese sat silent whilst our son wondered why we weren't getting out of the car. Reese later confessed he was quiet because he didn't want to cry.

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE 

I'm a very minimalist person. So there was no exact set theme for our wedding, but we did aim to have a very minimal yet elegant feel to the decor. Everything that was there was black and white.

THE BRIDAL LOOK & SAYING "YES" TO THE DRESS 

I went into Eternal Bridal with a dress style in mind and used it as a reference - everything after was planned around what worked with my gown. I had only tried four dresses or so. The wedding gown I chose was the second dress I tried on. I didn't have that "omg" moment. I was by myself, so without much input, I kept thinking, "surely it can't be this easy". My Eternal Bridal stylist was so helpful and suggested I go home and sleep on it. I called back the next day to pay my deposit!

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY 

The whole day was a highlight. Everything was picture-perfect. But it was nice to be able to sit in a room with all our loved ones and for everyone to be able to mingle with no restrictions.

KIRSTY'S ADVICE 

Honestly, I don't have any particular advice. I took my time planning and didn't stress, even after postponing our wedding date due to covid.
