The Special Couple: Booke + Nick

THE FIRST SIGHT

Nick and I met at Rosehill Races a little over five years ago on my 22nd birthday. His best friend Blake, who I had known for over ten years, introduced us.

Nick proposed to me in the most romantic way! We were on Day 1 of a 3-day wine tour through Tuscany. Having already visited two wineries throughout the day, we arrived at our accommodation in the afternoon at Castello di Spaltenna. Once we checked in, we decided to take a walk amongst the beautiful grounds and gardens. We found the most romantic spot overlooking the hills and vineyards, where Nick got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

I always wanted the wedding to be elegant yet relaxed. Nick and I are very laidback people, so a cocktail wedding was always on the cards. We had a beautiful ceremony and reception at Long Reef Golf Club at Collaroy NSW. The venue is set amongst the incredible natural backdrop. Everything was styled in neutral hues to tie the entire wedding decor together with the venue, including the bridesmaids stunning champagne gold Bec and Bridge dresses.

THE GALIA LAHAV TRUNKSHOW & SAYING YES TO THE DRESS

After some initial bridal research following the proposal, it wasn't long before Galia Lahav became my favourite designer. I always pictured myself in something unique, something that no one else would have, and the masterpieces designed by Galia provided just that. The first time I tried on any bridal gowns was at the 2019 Galia Lahav Trunk Show at The Langham Sydney, where I found my dress.

During the trunk show, I tried on about 18 gowns at the Galia Lahav trunk show! My dress was the very last one I picked up to try on. I thought "I may as well try this one to ensure I've covered everything", and as soon as I did, it just felt right. I just knew it was the one, and I was immediately filled with joy and butterflieS. When I saw my mum start to tear up, I knew then it had to be the dress! Regardless of whether I bought the dress that day or not, the experience alone was something that could never be topped. I remember my Eternal Bridal stylist who is also named Brooke looked after us for the evening, and it was the most amazing experience ever, with the cheese board and champagne. Brooke was incredible with me and my mum!

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY

The highlight of the day would absolutely have to be walking down the aisle to my favourite song and seeing the love of my life waiting at the end, tearing up. It was the most memorable moment that words cannot explain that I'll cherish forever.

BROOKE'S ADVICE 

I would tell my newly engaged self that no matter how organised or prepared you are; something WILL go wrong in the lead-up or, on the day, and that's okay. Embrace it and make the most of it!
