The Special Couple: Elise + Rob

THE FIRST SIGHT

Rob and I met at an 18th birthday party when I was 17, and he was 18. We instantly clicked and even had a photo together from that night. For the next few years, we would randomly bump into each other, and when we would, we would greet each other like long-lost friends, so happy to see one another again. In 2014 we both attended an engagement party and chatted the whole night. We have been together ever since!

THE PROPOSAL 

Rob proposed to me when we were out for coffee in the Docklands. He was acting very strange, and I had no idea what he was up to. He had printed on a transparent plastic sheet 'will you marry me?' and put it into the coffee when I wasn't looking. After a couple of moments of confusion, when I saw the plastic sheet poking out of the coffee, I pulled it out and saw the writing; Rob then got on one knee, holding out the ring. It was such a beautiful and wonderful moment I will never forget.

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

The theme for our wedding was classic and elegant. We went to over 20 wedding venues until we visited Merrimu. They just ticked all the boxes. My colour choices were white, gold and green. So for the decor, we had gold centrepiece stands, gold text on white for the place cards, seating chart and invitations and white wishing well with gold. I wanted white flowers with green foliage and floral arrangements to look full and beautiful. I was blown away when I walked into the reception and saw the centrepieces and bridal table set up by my florist. It looked stunning.

THE BRIDAL LOOK & SAYING 'YES' TO THE DRESS

I love the romantic look. Soft, whimsical and feminine. Looking at different brides and designers inspired my bridal style. I went to 5 bridal stores and tried on multiple dresses though none stood out. When I first saw the Galia Lahav Georgia dress, I loved it. I loved the sparkle, the sheer corset and the sheer lightness of it all. I knew instantly in my heart when I put the dress on and looked at myself in the mirror that this was the one. My experience with Eternal Bridal was great. They made me feel very comfortable and were very helpful. At the Melbourne Eternal Bridal Boutique, Franca was very proactive and helpful in getting me this particular veil which she ended up getting to me from Sydney last minute!

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY 

The highlight of my day was seeing Rob at the end of the aisle. Our eyes locked and there was this sudden wave of emotion as I walked towards my husband to be.

ELISE'S ADVICE 

Do not stress over the first dance. We took a couple of lessons before the wedding, which ultimately went out of the window on the day as my husband decided to freestyle. You just have to go with it.
