The Special Couple: Julie + Nick

THE FIRST SIGHT & PROPOSAL

We met at work after I had arrived from the Uk, got together at the Christmas party.

My mum was suffering from Cancer, and we tried to get engaged early last year so she could be part of it. Sadly she passed before we could do it however I had asked dad if we could use mums engagement ring as for our own so she could be part of it. He thought this would be perfect and would make mum so happy, so Nick had a beautiful vintage ring made for me to compliment mums ring and then we planned to go to Bali to have an extra special proposal. Nick did this on the beach during sunset, of course, I said yes, and we released a sky lantern for mum

THE INSPIRATION

As my husband is Greek, and I am British, we wanted to have a beautiful synergy of both cultures. We did this through the food and drinks at the reception and of course the music. We had a gin cocktail bar (very British) for the first hour of the reception and then had sharing platters of Greek-style mezze for the entrees. we had late-night snacks of fish and chips and gyros which people loved. Then, of course, we had the traditional Greek music with a bouzouki and bongo player.

THE BRIDAL LOOK & HER SAY "YES" TO THE DRESS MOMENT

I wanted a classic, beautiful, elegant look.

THE HIGHLIGHT

I have to say two things from our day. First, as a little girl, I dreamed of my dad walking me down the aisle and especially with the passing of mum last year this was even more special. The second was the first dance with Rita Ora and Liam Payne - 'For You', it was such an unexpected song for everyone, and they love it! To top it off we nailed the dance!

JULIE'S ADVICE

Don't worry about the small stuff. The little things that seem so important at the time on the day are forgotten about. Focus on you and your future husband and the importance of the day!
