The Special Couple: Grace + Alexander

THE FIRST SIGHT 

Alexander and I met a little bit at a cute rooftop gin bar after matching on Tinder. I remember the first thing out of my mouth was a comment about his height. Usually, guys over 6 ft 5" would have advertised it on their profile, but Alex didn't. Imagine my surprise standing next to him, being 5 ft 2" myself. Thankfully, we were seated most of the date and instantly bonded over our love for chips and games, to name a few common interests. Before the night ended, he asked me for another date the same weekend. Since then, we've been inseparable, and the rest is history! 

THE PROPOSAL 

It was a beautiful mid-autumn day. We had just spent the day picnicking with family at one of our favourite spots in Sydney. We decided to grab dinner at a yakitori joint, just the two of us and were seated outside the restaurant with no one else around. I remember the deep conversations about long-term futures and what we mean to each other. For some comic relief, I jokingly asked, "So where's my ring, haha?" expecting a vague answer. But to my absolute surprise, Alex pulls the most stunning ring out of his pocket and says, "Here it is. Will you marry me?"

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

For our wedding, we were planning for something that followed a midsummer night's dream theme. We also wanted to add some Bridgerton inspiration with us having wisterias and pastel colours for your day. 

THE BRIDAL LOOK & SAYING "YES" TO THE DRESS 

Initially, I was after an A-line silhouette as I thought it was the most universally flattering for all figures. However, because of the height difference between myself and my groom, my maid of honour suggested I try the mermaid silhouette, which was more elongating and would give the illusion of height. So I went online and looked at dresses with the mermaid silhouette. I found that Eternal Bridal had the most options to my taste as I am a fan of sparkle, a bit of lace and nothing too overly textured. I remember being very excited to visit the Eternal Bridal Sydney boutique. I had selected several dresses to try on, but perhaps by fate, they were not available. I saw this Danica dress on Eternal Bridal's IG story just days ago and thought I would try it if it were available.

When I tried it on, I remember falling in love with the details of the dress, from the unique neckline resembling butterfly wings to the strategically-placed lace design on the bodice and the subtle shimmer and sparkle from the sequin underlay. All the details were so flattering on my body! Plus, the gown was incredibly light and comfortable to wear sold it for me. Bonus points for the incredible detailing on the train and that it could be altered to include a soft tulle off-the-shoulder cuff. It was indeed the dress of my dreams! It impacted me so much that despite trying over ten different gowns at three other stores since then, nothing else could compare. It was a simple decision to say "Yes" to the dress when I returned to try it again for the second time.

THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR DAY 

We had many memorable moments throughout the day, from the first look, walking down the aisle, to the beautiful speeches and more. But the highlight for me must be exchanging vows in the presence of our beloved family and friends. It was the moment that matters the most to us and one that we will cherish forever.
