The Special Couple: Chinae & Surour

THE FIRST SIGHT

I met Surour working at Oporto just as we finished high school when we were seventeen. I served him without realising he also worked there and thought he was super cute. We realised when we got speaking that we used to live a couple of houses away from each other when we were young. Later, we shared a sneaky kiss at our laser tag Christmas party, and the rest is history! Eight years later, he proposed. 

THE PROPOSAL

We went on a trip to Melbourne for my 25th birthday. He had planned a winery day trip on my birthday to the Mornington Peninsula. We arrived at the first winery, and our private tour guide was taking some photos on his camera, and suddenly Surour looked really nervous. He said, "I have something for you" and pulled out a box. He then opened the box to display a beautiful gold nurse's watch (I'm a nurse), which he told me to turn around. It was engraved "Will you marry me?". Of course, he was hiding a second box in his suit, which held a beautiful engagement ring. I was stunned!!

THE INSPIRATION & VENUE

There wasn't exactly a specific theme for the wedding. I wanted to keep it minimalistic but still make a statement. I was sure I wanted a light colour theme. My bouquets and ceremony flowers were blush/white/cream colours, with a bit of a boho vibe, which I loved. It matched the bridesmaids dresses perfectly. My stylist was the one who suggested the boho touch, and I wasn't too sure about it at first, but I let her work her magic, and I wasn't disappointed. As for the reception, we kept it simple and classic with a light colour palette with some pops of pink colour. Touches of gold with the chairs and cake table complimented it well.

THE BRIDAL LOOK & SAYING 'YES' TO THE DRESS

I honestly just went with the flow, and I changed my mind on what I wanted a few times! I went with whatever felt right. However, I did like many of the Enzoani dresses I had seen on the Eternal Bridal website. I went to the Sydney store with my mum and sister. Initially, I thought I would love a tight-fitting dress in a mermaid style. I tried on about two of these dresses, and they looked good, and I was happy and excited. I thought I'd try on more of a ballgown dress afterwards, which I wasn't a fan of. Then I tried on the dress! It just felt like the one. I felt like a princess, and I was so much more comfortable than a tight-fitting dress! I felt like I could relax. My mum started crying, and I knew it was the one! I loved the detailed lace at the top and the softness of the beautiful tulle, with some lace detailing on the train. I never thought I would choose an A-line dress!

THE BEST THING ABOUT OUR DAY

Simply, the moment I married my best friend in front of all the people we love. Pure joy and happiness (and slight relief that all the planning is OVER!)

CHINAE'S ADVICE 

My advice would be to relax. Things will fall into place! Don't sweat the small stuff.
